FAQ

It roughly translates as plant life in Spanish, and came about when Kristy Cimesa our co-founder decided that she wanted to create a brand that harnessed the life giving, and healing properties of plants.

No, not at all. Our product is completely vegan. We use naturally occurring plant sources of oils rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9.

We use Grapefruit and Mandarin Oil at 0.5% of the product, which gives the product a beautiful, delicate citrus fragrance, but means that it is still completely natural. If you prefer no aroma at all, we have chosen not to include this in our Omega Balm.

More and more people are choosing to use oils on their skin, because they are a 100% natural way of delivering goodness into the cells with no fillers or unnecessary ingredients. Some people have had negative experience of oils that just sit on the skin and leave them greasy and unable to put clothes on over the top. This is often the case with oils that contain Mineral Oil. Everyone who tries Omega Oil comments on how absorbent it is and how moisturised and silk the skin feels after use. This is because we have blended just the right mix to create an oil that is beautiful to apply, slips over the skin, and absorbs fully.

No, not at all. Our product is completely vegan. We use naturally occurring plant sources of oils rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9.

Yes, some people find that it is too rich for daily use on their face and use it just when their face is very dry, but others use it morning and night. It is designed to provide a multipurpose oil that everyone in the family can use, everywhere.

Yes, Omega oil and Balm are approved by dermatologists and so safe and gentle that people with sensitive skin are often relieved to finally find a product does not cause a negative reaction. Omega Oil can help to control dry, itchy and eczema prone skin. Omega Balm is even more gentle, without the natural citrus scent, so it can even be used on inflamed and raw patches.

Absolutely. Omega Oil is ideal for baby massage, cradle cap, helping to keep dry irritated skin under control after bath time and for playground and chickenpox scars. Omega Balm is particularly useful if you need to moisturise more intensively, and for red or inflamed skin and nappy rash as it does not contain any trace of citrus oil.

Omega Oil is stocked by over 400 Sainsbury’s stores in the country (next to our un-natural alternative ‘Bio Oil’!) plus in many reputable pharmacies around the country and health-stores where you can usually try a tester of the product. This is a conundrum for us, as consumer prefer plastics in the bathroom when they have young children around and hard floor surfaces. Plastic is also less carbon intensive and requires less packaging to transport. However, we have been on the search for a suitable alternative to our PET bottles, which can be recycled but are not made from recycled plastic. We have now found a 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottle which is undergoing stability testing and we hope to use this in our future production runs.

In the meantime, you can rest assured that your bottle of Omega Oil will last a long, long time - on average our 125ml bottles last for 6 weeks of daily use, so unlike the use of disposable water and drinks bottles, your ánico Vida bottles have a very minimal environmental impact.

We recommend that you wait until the wound has closed, then the sooner the better it is to apply Omega Balm and Oil. Some of our customers have shared incredible feedback about the healing progress of their scars, when they started using Omega Oil within less than a week of an accident.

The majority of participants in our clinical trials said that Omega Oil improved the appearance of their stretch marks. However, there is no magic cure for existing stretch marks and they can fade and any redness will reduce, but they will not disappear completely. Prevention – by keeping the skin smooth and supple during pregnancy using Omega Oil - is one of the best strategies for avoiding stretch marks.

ánico Vida only source their Bioactive Sacha Inchi Oil exclusively from the Omega Program which cultivates Sacha Inchi that is indigenous to the high-altitude areas in Peru and guarantees a fair income to farmers and producers involving thousands of families living in the Peruvian Amazonia.

To date the OMEGA program has created 55 farmers’ associations and implemented 25 collecting centres in Tarapoto in the North of Lima. This programme will develop 20,000 hectares of Inca Inchi culture associated with the reforestation of Amazon deforested areas with local trees, food and medicinal plants.

In this way we guarantee there is a direct link between buying our Omega Oil and helping to reforest the Amazon.

Mineral Oil is a cheap, low-grade, petroleum derived skincare ingredient used in a large number of multi-purpose skincare products, particularly body oils. It costs 1/50th the price of basic olive oil. Mineral Oil is nutritionally void and cannot penetrate skin—its molecular size is simply too big so it remains on the surface of skin and cannot offer any of the rejuvenating benefits of oils containing Essential Fatty Acids, Vitamins and Anti-Oxidants. Mineral Oil actually seals off your skin, preventing it from breathing and unfortunately, the use of mineral oil in so many products has more to do with its cost than it's helpfulness in helping you maintain clear, healthy skin.

An independent study of Omega Oil concluded*: 45% measurable increase in skin elasticity, 63% of users reported an improved appearance in scars, 9 out of 10 users felt their skin was softer and more moisturised, 9 out of 10 would use as their main daily moisturiser after the trial ended.

*Results from an independent clinical study of 20 users who applied Omega Oil daily for 90 days.
