How to improve skin elasticity

Skin elasticity is the skin's ability to stretch and then go back to normal once the need to stretch is gone. When the skin is not elastic enough to cope with the increased stretch, stretch marks may develop. Stretch marks are pink or purplish streak lines that develop on the surface of the skin and which frequently fade to white streaks over time.

Pregnancy, growth spurts as a teenager and weight gain are the most common causes  of stretch marks.  While ageing will not cause stretch marks, as the elasticity and ‘bounce’ in the skin declines the skin becomes less firm and small fine, streaks may appear in the skin.

By improving your skin's elasticity you can successfully navigate pregnancy without stretch marks and also hold onto firmer, more elastic skin as your skin matures.

Numerous studies have been conducted into what causes stretch marks and what you can do to minimise your chance of developing them but there is only one prevailing opinion in which there is universal agreement - Omega Oils undoubtedly help to maintain skin elasticity.

When ingested and applied topically they undeniably help to support the structure of the skin and the skins ability to stretch and then return to normal.

The best plant source of Omega Oil is Sacha Inchi Seed which contains 90% Fatty Acids.  Why?  Because it is organically grown, a sustainable, indigenous crop that is helping to reforest the amazon, fairly-traded and perhaps one of the Earth's most nutrient rich seeds. A true super-food for your skin. Other great sources of Omega Oils include Avocado, Argan, Rosehip, Olive and Sunflower. The good news is that ALL of these oils can be found in Botanico Vida’s Omega Oil.

Fatty Acids are such an important and necessary component in every cell in our body, at Botanico Vida we set out to create a genuinely therapeutic product, formulating a blend as high in Omega Oil as possible. We were so pleased with the feedback from friends and family we recently conducted an independent clinical trial and were thrilled to discover that Omega Oil did indeed help the skin to stretch. Cutometer readings (a scientific tool used to measure skin elasticity) demonstrated the skins elasticity improved by a phenomenal 45% over a 90 day period of twice daily application.  This result is a genuine indication that Omega Oil can and will help your skin avoid stretch marks. Couple this with a diet rich in Omega Oils: avocado on toast for breakfast; a handful of sunflower seeds mid-morning; wild salmon for lunch; a walnut cookie in the afternoon and a mackerel salad for supper. You will be able to see the visible transformation in your skin as these all important oils, help your skin to remain healthy, elastic, glowing and vital.
